All the Way to Canada and Back…

I’m Philippe. I don’t fly anymore. Because of the environment.

But I want to go to Canada – to visit friends and family. So on October 22, 2026, I’m setting off by sailboat. Hitchhiking. Will it work? The route: From Germany via Mallorca and the Canary Islands, across the Atlantic to the Caribbean, then up the US East Coast to Canada. Destination: Montréal. And in May/June 2027, I’ll head back via the Azores.

Travel slowly and see a lot. I don’t really know yet how all of this is going to work out. When I’ll arrive where, who I’ll be travelling with, and what detours might come along the way. Somehow, that’s exactly the point of the whole thing.

Along the way, I’ll keep an audio diary. So you won’t just be able to read where I am, but also hear what I hear.

Want to write to me?
A little difficult when you’re at sea. But send me a digital message in a bottle. Maybe you’ll even fish one out of the ocean yourself. But beware: A message in a bottle has no specific recipient. It might end up anywhere. With anyone. Or maybe even with me. 🙂

Where is Wal-eee???

You can find me on this map. The position on a ship is automatically updated every 12 hours. When I’m travelling on land, there might sometimes be a little delay before the map catches up with me… Sometimes you just don’t have internet …
